Blue Jay

Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata)

Sometimes I will go out on my deck and have my early morning coffee, while tossing the birds a few peanuts. The Blue Jays are there too of course, and they will come relatively close. This one was waiting for me to toss a peanut when it suddenly flew from its perch, hawked a flying insect out of mid air, and went back to its place. It held the insect in its beak for quite a while, and vocalized various noises, like it was proudly showing me it's catch.
