This frog is toxic because of its diet (the toxins build up inside of it over time). There are several species of dart frog, but all of them that I've seen are quite small and colorful. The frog in the picture is an adult (around 2.5 cenimeters, rough guess). It is a very common frog in the lowland jungle at La Tirimbina Reserve in Costa Rica.
