Blue sky nutty (Sitta europaea)

Great to see a bit of sunshine for a change and the birds seem to appreciate it too. I guess the lesion under the birds eye must be some kind of tick. Never seen them on birds before although they are well reported in America and have been blaimed for spreading Lymes disease. There are certainly loads of deer in these woods and ticks regularly attach to the dog and my legs!
