OMG. Do you have an idea, when I possibly could have a chance to find one. In spring only. After their arrival. Later is the reed green and dense and they are not easy to spot at the edge of the reed and only if you spend a lot lot of time. Absolutely superb. A wonderful capture.

Thanks a lot. When I still lived in Belgium, 35 years ago, they were quite common summer visitors and they were actually not too shy, particularly in springtime when the males were singing. When we moved to Grenoble, in 30 years, I only once saw a female during autumn migration, but now here, they seem to be quite common winter visitors, I've seen (and heard) several of them during the last couple of weeks (I realise it's the third photo of a bluethroat I post since the beginning of the month :rolleyes:)

They do not have to cross the Mediterranean sea and they avoid the bird nets killing them. Protect them, capture them and enjoy them. A good place for these cuties to survive.
