Boomerang Owl Butterfly (Caligo oedipus: Nymphalidae) These large butterflies have a wingspan of 10-15 cm (4-6 in). They are mostly crepuscular and sometimes nocturnal flying short distances avoiding predation by avian predators. Photographed at Canopy Lodge in El Valle de Antn, Cocle Province, Panama.
