Brambling
Having spent most of the winter failing to see a Brambling at my feeding station (except one brief sighting when I didn't have my camera), I admitted defeat and headed to Bough Beech. In a good Brambling year it's an excellent place to see them and because I'd left it so late, some were almost in summer plumage like this one.
Habitat
Feeding station in old orchard
Location
Bough Beech reservoir, Kent
Date taken
2/4/08
Scientific name
Fringilla montifringilla
Equipment used
Canon 40D, 600mm f4
Two more nice posts Clive, good work, dont forget, always have your camera with you.

I know. It was a cold, grey, miserable January day and I'd only popped up to the feeders to top them up, and there it was, the only Brambling I've ever seen at work. I went back over the next few days but never saw it again. I've since moved the feeding station into a better spot but now I've got to wait for another good Brambling winter. Could be a couple of years I reckon.
