Brown Quail, first hatch for Spring (downunder) (Synoicus ypsilophorus)

Originally introduced in the 1860's and 1870's from Australia, as a game bird, and to replace the native brown quail.
Now common in Northland.

A terrific capture of the little quail. These birds have largely disappeared from Hawke's Bay.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Rookery, it wasn't such a great achievement as I have 30-40 of these coming around the back door for a feed each day, and this time of year they bring their chicks with them.
