Brown Thrasher in the Horse Sugar Tree

Brown Thrasher in the Horse Sugar Tree (Toxostoma rufum)

The Thrashers especially love this tree because it gives them a place to hide in the winter months.
Brown Thrashers are exuberant singers, with one of the largest repertoires of any North American songbird.
Habitat
Scrubby fields, dense regenerating woods, and forest edges are the primary habitats of Brown Thrashers. They rarely venture far from thick undergrowth into which they can easily retreat.

Backyard, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA

February, 2021
