Brown-winged Starling (Aplonis grandis macrura)

This Solomon Islands endemic is a rather large starling with distinct lanceolate neck feathers forming noticeable streaky gray throat hackles as seen here. Three subspecies are recognized. This is A. g. macrura which is endemic to Guadalcanal characterized by relatively shorter throat hackles.
