Buff-headed Coucal
This is a picture of a Buff-headed Coucal I took on Guadalcanal Island in the Solomon Islands on 31 March 2012. I’m just now getting around to sorting through old photographs.
Habitat
This one was observed foraging in the upper story of mixed jungle, about a mile West of the Honiara Airport.

Thank you, KC and Stanley! After years of work trips to some fairly remote places, I did luck into some good birds. Not being a photographer, I used whatever I had on hand to take pictures. Very few are both in-focus and of significant birds. This one was memorable as it stuck around long enough to observe, ID, and get photographed. We see lots of Pheasant Coucals in Australia where we lived five years, but they're a common bird. I also saw a Pied Coucal in PNG but never got a chance to photograph it. I'm glad to be able to add something to the databases here.
