Bully (Turdus merula)

SATURDAY FUN

This is my resident Male Blackbird laying in wait for other birds in my garden. He was chasing everything out of the garden, including my two resident Dunnock who actually live in the same bush as the two Blackbirds. He was exerting his authority in the mating season I think.
He met his match though with a feisty Pied Wagtail, who initially backed off, but then decided to stop and stand his ground. The Blackbird was surprised and also backed off and calmed down. The Wagtail then continued to feed and ignored the Blackbird. LOL

LOL Brian... what a tale you have to tell with the antics of this guy!! He sounds to be quite a character.

A super picture too; many thanks my friend.

Good for the Wagtail. Hopefully it is allowing for the blackbird to think more clearly. Fabulous composition, pose, setting, and bird Brian!!!

LOL! I think there's a lesson there. Standing up to bullies is for the best for both parties. |=)|

Thank you for telling about your birds. I've got several male blackbirds in my garden and they all show some aggressive behaviour. This morning I watched a real rooster fight. I think they'll calm down as soon as each of them has found their beloved. (Hope my English won't make you frown.)
