Buzzard Flying

Buzzard Flying (Buteo buteo)

So I've finally managed a Buzzard in flight (your lagging behind Donald. ;) ) but I've seen plenty of better one's than this so stiil I'm not happy yet. This is a clutch shot really as I was virtually crawling on the floor of the hide in order to get the angle through the narrow windows as it flew almost directly overhead (very quickly it did and going outside wouldn't have helped because of the trees, as some of you will know). Typically with ISO 400 and Av mode I got 1/5000 too (if I'd have had time to think I'd have dropped the ISO or switched to manual) so it's had some rescuing too. I know, I know stop whining it's still pretty good and I love how it shows off the markings but I know I can still get better if given the time to prepare. I guess that's probably what separates the good photographers from the great ones, they would almost instinctively change the settings before shooting. Anyway, sorry for my longwinded list of excuses, I'll zip it now and reflect on my first Buzzard flight shot, hopefully the first of many.

Many thanks to everyone. I am certainly pleased with it, I just want one to fly over my head nice and slow and out in the open with me standing there waiting (complete with a huge grin on my face). ;)

Sorry for putting you out of breath Ken, lot of info to get across. :-O

Here's wishing you better luck with the 100-400mm than you had with the last one.:t: (It's not a bad old start so far!) |8)|
