California Condor 22 Perched (Gymnogyps californianus)

When we arrived at the south rim of the Grand Canyon this condor was perched on a large rock jutting out into the canyon. Looking online, I've learned this is a male, hatched on May 17, 1995. He was released at the Vermillion Cliffs which are about 30 miles north of the Grand Canyon. I didn't find out the date he was released, but I did see a field report from January, 1999 that listed him as one of the condors sighted then.
