Calliope Hummingbird
This Calliope Hummingbird is the only one I have seen in this part of the desert in the last 25 years.

If you shoot hummingbirds it can be a challenge, this is the best shot I got .The migration will start at the end of February so I might get lucky. One year I had five species at one time.

Scientific name
Selasphorus calliope
I agree, the hummers are one of the biggest challenges. They're the smallest hummer in the U.S. and such pretty little ones. I'll be seeing them in April and it's always a joy to photograph them.
