on Black knapweed. Rather hard to describe the habitat here. These wildflowers were along the verges of the path with a warmth-loving deciduous forest on one side, an historic manor house on the other, the city gardeners' greenhouses behind the manor house, including a composting area, and then a public orchard (feel free to pick!) along the path behind that again. I'm pretty sure the bees and wildflowers all benefit from being in the vicinity of the orchards, the compost tips, the giant planters ready to be placed out around town or coming back for replanting ... In fact, some of tomorrow's shots were of butterflies visiting the flowers in the giant planters.
