Well, parus is what I meant, but...... the field guide I had out when posting says Parus carolinensis, but an Audubon Field Guide says “Poecile (parus) carolinensis”, and the bird himself declines to confirm or deny.

The taxonomists have a lot to answer for, don't they Gerry. A lot of the tits/chickadees (among hundreds of other species), have been given new scientific names following DNA results.
