Carrion Crow (Corvus corone) (Corvus corone)

I once saw a group of crows congregate around a dead crow. I did wonder at the time what was the reason for this kind of behavior, but their vigilance over a dead crow did serve a purpose, one that was a matter of life and death. Apparently crows attend their dead to identify predators and potential threat. Very clever birds.
