carrion crow
It was quite warm where this crow was foraging. The beak open to facilitate cooling.
I experimented with a minimal hide, which is basically a camouflage net hung over the scope and tripod. It seemed to work really well, as this crow came quite close. The wheatear, which was my target, suddenly landed at a distance of 4 meters, to close to focus on!
I can move the hide around slowly, remaining hidden and not upsetting the wildlife. More experiments will follow.

Nice behaviour shot Edwin :t: Seems like a lot of birds are a bit "tame" these days ... the unexpected summer days (26 Celcius) maybe ...?

I like Carrion Crows Erwin...I have one that comes into my garden every day and gets food for the young. They are quite nervous birds and a small back garden is not the ideal place for a large bird to land but it does give me chance to observe!! Nice to know about the open beak. Thanks for posting this shot.
