Cattle Egret
It's odd isn't it that in the past 15 years (yes, I came to birding relatively late in life) I have never been close enough to a Cattle Egret to get a decent photo. Then at the end of August two opportunities presented themselves completely out of the blue.

As you can see, the bird is as surprised to see me as I was to see it!

Cracking close-up Brian!!!!!!! There was one of these reported on my local patch last week, I went for a look, but didn't see it.

Surprised and pretty ruffled up too. Wonderful pose, expression and a brilliant close up, Brian!! tfs. Luckily, we have no dearth of these egrets here.

They're lovely egrets, aren't they with that yellow bill. A super picture this Brian, well done for getting him.

Reminds me of my early birdwatching days when I'd just found out about digiscoping. We were visiting Pagham. They were very rare in the country then, and we were sent off to twitch it (didn't even know that term then LOL). We got some not very poor pictures from the far side of the field.
