Cedar Waxwing
I took this photo while walking on the Fore River Trail in Portland, Maine. I think this trail is one of Portlands best birding spots, which is not known to many and used by very few. I go there on a daily basis. There were a dozen or so Waxwings moving through the tree tops eating berries and I managed to grab a few shots. This was around sunset so this was the best shot as far as lighting goes.
Habitat
Tree tops near grassland with an old river canal winding through.
Location
Portland, Maine
Date taken
06/25/2008
Scientific name
Bombycilla cedrorum
Equipment used
Canon 40D, EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM
Yeah, that would have been quite a job with the 85mm.(I originally listed the 17-85mm) It was actually at the 300mm end with the 70-300mm lens I've been using. I updated the lens in the equipment. I realized I listed the wrong lens when I read your reply. I love Cedar Waxwings as well. I was so excited to finally get a shot of one. There is just so much to like about them.
