Centipede

Not one of my favorite critters around here. Spooky things. This one measured at around 12 centimeters, or about 5 inches. Scooted up the trunk of this tree, about 2 feet from my left ear as I was trying to get some pictures of some harmless butterflies. Sent a little shiver down my spine. They pack venom in their bite, and well ... I've never been bitten, and knock on wood, hope to stay that way. Eventually, this one posed nicely on the underside of this low lying tree branch, allowing me to get a decent photo. In Japanese, this is called a mukade.

Gosh!!! That does sound like a close encounter Frank!! LOL

Sorry... shouldn't laugh really;)

I didn't know they were venomous, at least as far as people are concerned.

You got a super picture of it - well done lad.

Goodness - I had no idea they were that big, Frank. A well detailed study of this nasty beast.

Amazing, this looks so similar to the Arizona Giant Centipede that they must be sister species (lol). They are bloodcurdling! Fabulous close-up Frank!!!!
