Chameleon Squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris)

When it saw me this squirrel froze in this position a few metres away and remained there until I left. The light was poor but I persevered until I got this shot. Then I left it in peace :-)

The squirrel wasn't really very big but it was flattened out and I was very close. I thought it odd that it didn't go shooting off upt the tree trunk. but I suppose that I, as a potential threat, wasn't worht the effort.
