Chattering Lory (Lorius garrulus)

Listed as "vulnerable" by IUCN on account of unsustainable trapping for the cage-bird trade. Annual harvest estimated at 6,000 birds from Obi. Treated as "sensitive" by eBird for the same reason. A spectacular red parrot distinguished from Moluccan King-Parrot by short, rounded tail. Here on Obi Island, is the subspecies "L. g. flavopalliatus" with a yellow patch on its back.
