Chestnut Weavers
this group kindly gave me a view from all angles at once; sadly none in breeding plumage which is bright chestnut with a black head

Gosh Max... it's 7 years since we last saw a picture of these come in!!!

That's a truly splendid image too lad.

Sooo... the one bottom left will be a non-breeding male, with the others being females/juveniles... have I got that right.

Hi everybody,

I don't want to spoil the fun here, but these little beauties are no Chestnut Weavers.
Actualy they are not even Ploceus.
You are looking at Passer eminibey, Chestnut Sparrows.
The bird on the bottom left is a male in breeding plumage!
So please don't wait for the black heads, it will be a waste of time. ;)
Four other birds are non breeding males.
Only the bottom right bird (dorsal) might be a female.

Nice capture though
