Chestnut
About a 3 hour flight from Brisbane and I was landing in Adelaide, South Australia.

And there was Peter and Adrienne awaiting me. Peter took me for a local walk around where his house is later on, so that I could stretch my legs. I didn't take my camera though.

Even so, I picked up my first Lifer for South Australia in a Red Wattlebird, but no matter, I was to see plenty later on.

When we got back to the house we discovered that the water engineers were digging up his street!!! Hmmm... loos were unusable.... hmmm.

Well decided the only way I was going to get to a loo this evening would be to take P&A for a meal at a local establishment... and a great meal it was too.

The next morning, they seemed to have sorted the water problems fortunately. And after breakfast we set off to visit one of Peter's favourite reserves, Laratinga.

The Chestnut Teal was one of the first ducks I recognised, not a Lifer, as I'd seen them in Brisbane. Beautiful teals these.

Happy Birthday Delia! (on the right day I think). This bird is a beauty, with that red eye set in a lustrous green head, and the chestnut flanks. Very well done!
