Chillin in a park tree (Nyctanassa Voilacea)

Yellow-Crowned Night-Herons are rare in California. Single birds have occurred here off and on over the years. This is one of two birds (a pair) that are believed to be nesting in the park. Sea World would be the only place on the west coast where they're known to nest.

How fortunate you were to come across this one then. You've caught some nice detail in it's feathers.
