Usually when I talk about a Christmas bird, I mean a turkey. lol
I had strung some Christmas lights up in a skinny striped maple tree that I hung a feeder on. The chickadees like to hang out in that tree, and I was trying to get some photos of the chickadees in amongst the lights.
I was standing there, camera at chest level, when this blue jay suddenly landed on the feeder, less than 8 feet from me! He didn't see me, I was wearing a grey jacket against the cold and that may have helped camo me. But I didn't dare move a muscle or try to raise the camera, or he'd take off in a fright.
No flip out screen on my camera, so I had to guess and snap a picture blindly. Not bad, except for that stupid wayward loop of Christmas lights in the way!! lol! I'd have to say mr. Blue Jay makes a pretty good tree decoration though!
