Clinging Purple

I read somewhere that purple finch numbers were being impacted by house finches. Well here, it's all purples, and they dominate our feeders. We had to make it a little tougher for them, and give a chance for the other birds, so we made some hanging feeders. They still get seeds, but they're not great "clingers" so they can't stay there all day and munch like they do on the platform feeders. They eat a few then have to vacate to make way for chickadees and the like. They still look quite elegant as they cling though. lol

Interesting, isn't it, you'd think all finches were good at feeding from hanging feeders.

A great picture you've got of this one - I love how he's using his tail to balance with.

Nice work here Bill - well done.

Working hard for his supper! A lovely close up, Bill.

Thank you for sharing your experience and observations. The nutty is still in good shape.
