At least you can see it is a Ruby-crowned Kinglet, so good for a recored shot 🙂

Yes, that's the upside. And I have several nice, clear photos of this bird, just none with that crown showing. That can go on my list of goal photos- a shot of a kinglet with its crown up.

Thank you for the nice words. It was definitely excited- another male had arrived. They were great fun to watch, hopping around between branches at lightning speed. I didn't see either of them actually dart at each other, but the fast motions from both parties started when the second arrived, and their little crowns were up every few seconds. Unfortunately, they moved deeper into the forest, away from the path, and I didn't want to frighten them by trying to chase after them.
