Black-bellied whistling duck - blue-eyed son
Black-bellied whistling ducks have brown eyes...unless you find one with a genetic anomaly. This one had striking blue eyes, which stands out more than you'd think when you are looking at 20-30 whistling ducks that all look the same...except one

That's a cracking picture of a sitting duck Justin..... and what a great spot for you too.

I've rather a soft spot for whistling ducks, having seen my first ones in Oz!

Many thanks for showing him to us lad.

Many thanks. We are lucky to have dozens, sometimes hundreds, gathered for the day in one of my local wetlands. They'll spend much of the day floating around in the water, or up on the bank or grass islands taking naps or resting. You can walk by them within 10-15 feet and they won't spook. There were a few dozen hanging out nearby when I noticed the eyes on this one...the only one I've ever seen with blue eyes.
