Common Crossbill (Loxia curvirostra)

Not the best of shots, but the first time I've had a chance with this species. This bird was one of about 50 that fed for some time in the conifers around Frensham Little Pond. They were relatively obliging but I still needed all the lens power I could get.
Habitat
Conifers/heath
Location
Frensham Little Pond, Surrey
Date taken
27/5/08
Scientific name
Loxia curvirostra
Equipment used
Canon 40D, 600mm f4 + 1.4x TC
Well if you didn't have the lens power with that rig, then I dont know what to say mate, looks OK to me, congrats on a first.
