Common Eider (Somateria mollissima)

Common throughout the North Atlantic, these large sea ducks are not flashy in non-breeding colors (as shown here), but I enjoyed trying to capture an image at the considerable distances they seemed to prefer off-shore. The male in breeding colors is well pictured in Opus.
Habitat
Ocean shoreline
Location
Gaspesie, Quebec, Canada
Date taken
16-Sep, 2007
Scientific name
Somateria mollissima
Equipment used
Canon 40D, 500mm with 1.4X, tripod
A super shot.
I hate names like 'Common Eider'. If they're that common, how come I've never seen one!?
