 Beautiful pic of this wrongly-named jewel (I can count seven rings, ;) :'D)!!! :t: :t: Cheers, Mark!

LOL, Marian. They must have been drinking too much rice wine when they gave common names to the Ypthima genus |:S|. A Small Three-ring with four rings. False Four-ring with two. Common Four-ring with five. Actually, not that bad. When the Common Five-ring opens up it's got five rings but some of the others still have me scratching my head :t:.

LOL, Mark, now we need a view of the upperwing to show the "namers" were sober!!! ;) :'D

Sorry, Marian, when I took the shots I thought it was an endemic Ypthima formosana of which I have quite a few open shots and just a single poor closed shot. Thinking I had the shot I needed I chased off after another species :-C. It was only when I got home I realised that I had shot a Common Five-ring, which was new for me so I was happy but just disappointed that I missed the open shot. I'll have to wait until next spring to get you the open shot.

I'll post the Ypthima formosana shots for you tomorrow :t: !
