Common Goldeneye on Mississippi.jpg
Pair on the river fishing while the air temp was 15 degrees F (-9.444C) Vapor rising up from the Mississippi River since the water was warmer. This morning it was -22F, -30C. Going back tomorrow for better angle above the nearby brush.

Oh my! I didn't realize the mighty Mississippi froze like this. Our river here is pretty much frozen over now after two weeks of record-setting cold. Only a patch where water warmed from the power plant turbines empties back into the river is still open, so that's where pretty much all our town ducks have gone.
