Common Loons

Common Loons (Gavia immer)

My younger brother, his son, and I stayed for a week in a yurt on Teddy Lake, which is located in Craig Lake State Park. This is the most remote state park in Michigan according to the state parks' website. The area it's in is quite a few miles off from the nearest highway or town.

We shared the lake only with wildlife and birds like these loons. Their calls are incredible, very loud and eerie, especially at night! On 2 of the nights they were joined by the howling of wolves. There also was the sight of the clear night sky with lots of shooting stars, without any city lights interfering.

During this stay, we saw a juvenile loon for the first time.

Great experience. Good image. Need to rotate it clock-ways about 4-8 degrees to put on the horizontal. ;) :t: :t:

This is very good photo of Common Loom. This is not common, because I have never seen Common Loom. Beatiful light: no bad shadows. And juveline is so pretty. Well done.
