What a surprise I had yesterday when out photographing the Siskins. I saw what I thought was a leucistic Siskin and when I pointed the camera at the bird I was some surprised! I've only had one Redpoll show up at our feeders in the thirty years we've been here and I wasn't able to get any photos. This fine fellow hopped up onto my favorite perch (for photo ops, I don't perch on it LOL) and posed there for a couple minutes. What a sweetie!
It was traveling with a group of Siskins, Finches and eight other Redpolls. Several of the birds in this flock were different birds than I've seen here this winter. One of the Siskins was a very dark almost rusty color, intersting. Anyway, I'm hoping this flock sticks around for a couple days so I can get a few more photos of these pretty birds.
