Isn't he a beauty? It's possible you got really lucky with this one, since I'm almost positive that it's a Hoary Redpoll. We have been seeing them in N.S. this year (first time ever for me that I'm aware of). I suspect that this nasty winter is bringing them around. They are certainly a most welcome sight, and we usually see them with the siskins as well. I think they are an Arctic species, if I recall correctly. You've captured him perfectly, in any case. Well done!!!
