Common Wood Pigeon
Showing its "third eyelid" (nictitating membrane). Apparently dogs, and many species of wild animals, have these. Until recently I only knew of the membrane as an anatomical feature of birds.

Great shot of this "sleeping"beauty,John,sometimes it can be quite hard to get a Dipper with open eyes,you come home with lots of membrane pictures.
 
Aaawwww! The blushing bird! The pose emphasises that "blushing" breast beautifully ;)
