Common Yellowthroat

Common Yellowthroat (Geothlypis trichas)

Male wearing a black mask, but not the recommended type for the current pandemic. This small, dark subspecies, also known as the San Francisco or Salt Marsh Yellowthroat (subspecies G. t. sinuosa) has reportedly declined by 8095% because of urbanization and habitat loss. The "salt marsh" name is a bit of a misnomer because they breed primarily in freshwater marshes, moving to salt marshes only after nesting.
