Commuting (Pelecanus occidentalis)

Heading across the San Francisco Bay on Monday to do my early voting at the Norway Consulate (I've timed my trip badly and would otherwise miss the election back home), I managed to dodge the commuter traffic over the bridge (and also the city traffic crunch and parking chaos) by taking the passenger ferry from Sausalito instead. Not quite a pelagic birding trip as I only saw a few species along the way - most notably Brown Pelicans doing their own cross-bay commute.
