Contact (Tyto alba)

A break in the wet dark weather tonight and I shot out to try out my new teleconverter. This almost one-eyed Barn Owl ive spent time getting to know, gave me the trial run I needed. :)

Fantastic head on shot,Tom! :t: Great lighting as always. Please, don't tell me you handheld this setup.

Congrats on the new bit of kit Tom! love your expression rushed out to use it LOL , going by this image you will be using it a lot more :t::t::t:

Fantastic shot Tom, don't tell me you can take even better shots, I don't believe it ;)

Beautiful shot. Sharp, colouful, atmospheric, the list goes on. And the loss of the eye really makes me feel for the bird!

Breathtaking!

Super standard photo Tom, well done. Just a question.....does autofocus work with the TC?

Thanks everyone :)

Ove, handholding would have been a lot easier in this situation; being hidden behind my bag hide and trying to follow this bird was the challenge! lol

Rob, with the 500mm f/4, yes the auto-focus worked well; widest aperture being f/5.6 :t:

:eek!: Staggering capture, Tom, and to have a poor one-eyed Owl makes it even more special!!! :loveme: How exciting, to see it coming directly forwards towards me!!! :bounce:
