Cooooh! (Somateria mollissima)

That pre-Christmas day I had walked downtown to buy some gifts. Crossing the river from downtown towards the new mall at the old shipyards, the river was packed with Eiders. Several hundred of them, foraging for mussels in the small boat harbor ... and flirting with one another ;)

Sounds like a fabulous Christmas for the Eiders Doc. Great picture and a fabulous narrative!!!
 
If only I saw one of these birds, just one! But hundreds of eiders together must be quite q sight. A superb image of this bird, Ann.
