This particular pool is the least visited area of the whole reserve which may have contributed to the early breeding success. That said, Coot and Moorhen are notoriously early breeders. To such an extent that IIRC I was once told that Moorhen & Coot have been recorded in the UK 'with chicks' in every month of the year!
