Coral fungus (Clavicorona pyxidata)

Lots of fungi in the redwood forest as well. Some of them edible. Unfortunately, my sister-in-law had recently had an allergic reaction that may have come from mushrooms. She'd been advised to stick with a totally allergen-free diet (is that even possible?) for a few weeks until all symptoms had cleared, then try one suspect item at a time. She was not ready to try mushrooms again yet, so even the most delicious and safe varieties we saw, we just had to photograph rather than take home to eat.

That's a pretty little thing, isn't it!! And in amongst the shamrock leaves too.

What a shame about your sister in law, how is she now?

What a lovely setting for this shot, Ann. I hope your SIL is doing well.
