Courtship composite ...
Courtship composite ...

Here's a composite
showing the
interesting
Courtship behavior
of this species
... endemic to
India ...

Four sequential images
show the event of
male capturing a
large insect ...
... then passing
it on to the female

... who accepts it
ever so gleefully
... holds it for
while ... then swallows
it ...
... the 4th image shows
her in the act of
swallowing ... almost
complete ... only
two long antennae sticking
out of her bill ...

Images were captured
in the most difficult
setting ... as is obvious
from the images ...

Since the male and
female have similar
plumage ... we're
presuming one giving
the food is the male ...
