Chihuahuan Desert, desert scrub mixed with desert grasslands; hiding behind sideoats grama grass at ca. 1,231 m (4,040 ft) elevation.

South of Marathon on the Post Park Road, Brewster County, Texas, USA.

wonderful photo, Stanley, remembers me of my first close encounter with a coyote, one early morning in California, a real thrill; top notch, many tfs!!
 
Not an ugly one. I saw dingos in Australia but never coyotes in the US. A wonderful encounter perfectly captured.
