Crested Shrike-tit #1 (Falcunculus frontatus)

Found a newbie when I went to Wilson's Reserve yesterday. It didn't stick around for long and was at the end of my zoom and more. I thought I was getting an Eastern Robin but on returnng home a 1:2 crop revealed this surprise....I love my 5D!!
Location
Wilson's Reserve, Melb.
Date taken
April 2008
Scientific name
Falcunculus frontatus
Equipment used
5D + 100-400IS
You must have been delighted with this shot (and the other) - these are not easy birds to catch up with - so active, so fond of the leafiest parts of the tree. A fine shot of the elusive one. This is the male you have here, by the way - the female has a green bib. Congratulations on an uncommon and exciting capture. :t:

Thanks Rose. I'll be looking out for the female next time! There was a second bird that day ..much darker in color.. maybe that was his mate??

I can understand why you love your new toy, you managed very well considering the difficult conditions.
