Crested Shrike-tit #2

Wilson's Reserve makes for a good morning work-out. Theres lots of overhead vegetation so it doesn't get too hot on the head but on the other hand the available 'light' can at times be tricky (must remember to pack the flash..keep forgetting!). Take the right path and walk through dark forest with a couple of attractive billabongs on the way (where is that elusive Kingfisher!!!). Take the left path and the forest is dry with lots of light tree cover. Theres also a short delightful off-track path that brings you to the Yarra river. This is where I caught the Yellow Eastern Robin which did its thing just for me for at least 5 mins. A sizeable area is fenced off to encourage and allow for forest re-growth. Unfortunately this cuts off access to the billabongs and the Yarra. Nonetheless all in all a fun way to spend the day.

I had a very similar experience about a week ago, I saw my first shrike tit in Ballarat. I didn't get a shot worth keeping which is a pity. It's a goodun Broc.
