Very beautiful Crossbill composition, Kaleel. Great bird and much pine to crown this image. Outstanding work. :t:

A beautiful image Kaleel. A great setting and I like the way the bird's head is clear of the pine needles. Very nice indeed.

Looks as if it ready to drop the cone on someone passing underneath.

Good capture.

Thanks everyone!

I was a bit lucky with finding this bird as, being a birding novice, I had no idea where to look, but there was a gaggle (is this a good collective noun for birders?!) of birders saying some of them had just seen some crossbills nearby and couldn't find them again. I tagged along for a while but eventually decided to move on. Returning to the car to pack up I saw all the birders pointing in the same direction at a flock of crossbills. Bingo! Actually, I was surprised to hear how loud the cracks were of the pine cones. They're certainly not quiet eaters. I'll try to remember to post the pic of the male I got a little later.

Cheers,
Kaleel
