Dark-brown Honeyeater
Sometimes called Grey-eared Honeyeater, this is a restricted range species found only in Vanuatu and Temotu EBA (Endemic Bird Area) and in New Caledonia EBA. We found them to be fairly common and reasonably conspicuous on our visit to New Caledonia. Five subspecies are recognized. This is the nominate race characterized by its slightly smaller size, whiter throat and paler breast.
